agroecology for resilent territories in Senegal

Goals and Objectives

The primary goal of our project is to accelerate the transition towards more sustainable, just, and inclusive agroecological food systems in Senegal and the broader Sahel region. To achieve this goal, we have outlined the following key objectives

Enhance understanding of agroecological transition pathways: We aim to identify the enablers and barriers to agroecological transformation and develop context-relevant transformative pathways. This includes a comprehensive analysis of the current state of agroecology in the region, an examination of actors and initiatives, and the development of evidence-based scenarios for the future.

Foster collective action and territorial governance: We seek to connect actors, develop synergies between agroecological initiatives, and build coalitions of change agents and reform actors to overcome power imbalances in territorial governance. Through the facilitation of evidence-based deliberative platforms, we will work together to negotiate a common vision for the future of agroecological food systems and develop multidimensional action plans that address competing claims and sustainability trade-offs.

Raise awareness and improve perceptions of agroecology: We will work to challenge the mainstream narratives and promote the benefits of agroecology for the environment, human well-being, and local economies. Our communication efforts will focus on engaging various stakeholders, including consumers, media, producers, and government agencies, to drive demand for agroecological products and facilitate the upscaling of successful models and initiatives.

Utilize and disseminate knowledge effectively: We are committed to creating a robust knowledge-sharing platform that ensures the practical application of our findings and promotes collaboration among diverse stakeholders. Our communication strategy will employ innovative tools and channels, including arts and culture, to reach a broad audience and foster engagement in the transition towards agroecological food systems.

By pursuing these objectives, we strive to contribute to the global efforts in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and building a more sustainable and equitable future for the communities in the Sahel region.
